Iranian director and previous Oscar award-winner Asghar Farhadi will be unable to attend this year’s Oscars award ceremony, according to a tweet from the President of the National Iranian American Council , Trita Parsi. Farhadi’s film, The Salesman , is currently nominated for Best Foreign Language film for the 2017 Academy Awards. Earlier this week, it was announced that Taraneh Alidoosti, the star of The Salesman, will boycott the award ceremony in protest of Trump’s “racist ban.”

On Tuesday, President Trump signed an executive order that will restrict immigration from Syria and six other Middle East and African countries, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Sumalia, Sudan, and Yemen.
